Brian Basilico

Jaime Jay interviews Brian Basilico, owner of B2B Interactive Marketing, for the second time to talk about his new book “The Bacon System”. We discuss strategies that will improve your marketing skills and of course, bacon.

Into B2B Interactive Marketing

127 Brian Basilico The Bacon SystemBrian started his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 18. He started with a recording studio at his father’s basement. Eventually he went to work for various ad agencies and production companies.

When he opened his company 16 years ago, social media was not yet around. Business card CDs were his primary products. But, he constantly reinvented himself as the years progressed.

I help companies find their ideal customers online to generate more sales. I show you why and teach you how.” -Brian Basilico

His experiences led him to become an expert in B2B interactive marketing. But, he understood that B2B interactive marketing is not easy. That was why he wrote the book to help people.

Not About You

127 Brian Basilico The Bacon SystemBrian’s first book was It’s Not About You, It’s About Bacon. It taught people about the importance of social media in relationship marketing. BACON is actually an acronym which stands for Building Authentic Connections Online Networking.

The thing that we do is that we really grow by teaching other people.” -Brian Basilico

He considered individuals who were most successful in their pursuits, and created something that teaches others how they can also be successful.

The BACON System

127 Brian Basilico The Bacon SystemThe BACON system is a 12-step program for those who tried things and failed. They may have tried social media, Ad Words, and other things to grow their business but did not succeed.

The right audience was the one that had the desire to make change, the passion for what they were doing, and the money to make it happen.” -Brian Basilico

To help them out, the program has 3 main pieces that they can apply. The first piece is called the home base, where they figure out their ideal avatar.

The second piece is about having a killer website. Brian saw the need for business owners and entrepreneurs to understand how websites work nowadays. You too can find out what is really happening in the industry, and come up with good solutions for your company.

Mike Zuke Stop Riding the PineMike played college hockey with Michigan Tech in the 70s. He soon got drafted to the St. Louis Blues after college. He also played in the World Hockey with the Indianapolis Racers.

A Dream Come True

Mike Zuke Stop Riding the PineMike grew up in Ontario, Canada. His dad made him an outdoor rink to play with as a child during winter. He eventually got a scholarship for his skills.

“It was a dream come true to do what you had aspirations for and loved and enjoyed it.” -Mike Zuke

Now in the St. Louis Blues Alumni, they have about 30 to 45 hockey veterans. They do a lot of charity works together.

Hockey Fun

Mike Zuke Stop Riding the PineIn the past, one may consider hooking as an art. It requires the player to know how much he can do and when he can do it. But these days, Mike jokingly finds it as a matter of survival with young players.

He and his fellow St. Louis Blues Alumni invite kids to play with them from time to time. He plays 3 times a week with Junior and college kids. They get together and just really have some fun.

Baird Hall

On this episode of Stop Riding the Pine, Jaime Jay interviews co-founder of Wavve, Baird Hall. They discuss how Wavve converts audio into videos for podcasters to easily share and/or promote parts of their episodes with their followers. Really cool technology—great way to market your show.

Easiest Video Content Solution

124 Baird Hall Sharing Audio the Wavv WayWavve is an online tool that turns your audio into custom branded animated video. You simply upload an mp3 file from any either a podcast or any recording you have. It also gives you the option to record directly on the browser.

It’s the easiest way to create video marketing content.” -Baird Hall

Podcasters have used it to share their episode segments. Other people who’ve fallen in love with it are marketers, business coaches—anyone with a verbal content. You too can use it to increase engagement and conversions.

Videos on Social Media

Popular social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, tune up their algorithm to highlight videos. Videos keep people longer on their platforms.

Everything in social media is trending towards video.” -Baird Hall

What’s even good about Wavve is that it provides you with native video instead of something linked to another website. With videos, you can reach out and connect with more people.

Quick to Set Up

124 Baird Hall Sharing Audio the Wavv WayAccording to Baird, it’s easy to tell people to create more video content. In reality, however, not everyone has a lot of time to dress up and prepare particularly for videos where they show their faces.

“You don’t have to worry about how you look, whether or not you’re having a good or bad hair day—it’s a lot easier.” -Baird Hall

With Wavve, you can create an animated video instead. It’s like having a still image with your face and company name. That will go well with the audio you upload.
